Valeria's Cap Collection and Design Portfolio
Congrats, you've found my hidden page dedicated to my expansive New Era Cap collection. Here is where I detail my collection with images and descriptions of each cap. It's updated periodically but not all the time so you can check back whenever you like.

My New Era Cap Collection
Houston Astros Blackout
A regularly stocked hat by New Era for all teams. It was my first fitted hat that I got after slowly moving from Dad Caps, then Truckers, then Snapbacks and Fitteds. Even though I don't wear it very often, it's one of my favourite caps in the collection and it's a great way to start getting into collecting hats for those uninitiated.
Houston Astros Gold Collection
After the Astros won the 2022 World Series, they released the Gold Collection just before the start of the season. It's a variant of their Orange visor Alternate uniform hat with a gold sparkling thread instead of the orange that is in the uniform. It also has a 2022 WS Champions Side Patch with gold thread and a matching uniform which is a gold-accented variant of their home jerseys. I own one of those jerseys and the combo is a pretty fun outfit to rock on gameday.
Houston Astros Batting Practice (2022)
Since (at least) the New Era Flag era of MLB caps, every MLB team has had unique hats for their batting practice that serve as both a breathable headwear before the game and the base for their Spring Training cap. In 2022, the MLB came out with a new regulation for teams and their Batting Practice and Spring Training caps. On the field, the caps would have the team's main colour as the base with the stitching on the hat being the team's second colour. The back panels of the hat would be mesh as well making it one of the few official MLB-sold caps that are fitted Truckers. In the case of the Astros, the hat is navy with orange stitching making up the logo, New Era flag, and Batterman on the back. This is one of my favourite hats to wear just all the time because of its light weight and breathability.
Houston Astros City Connect
Since 2020, Nike has been making a unique line of uniforms for select MLB teams called the City Connect collection. Similar to the NBA, these City uniforms are notably different to the team's standard uniform and they are made with the intent of representing a city or team's culture in a modern design. The Astros City Connect uniform almost does that. Its design is based on Houston's history with NASA as Mission Control and uses many elements such as NASA's font and star map grids in the uniform. On the cap, the front logo is a variation of the Astros logo with the difference of the star being outlined and an orbiting sphere and its orbit path being shown around the star. The star and orbit path is in a gradient similar to that of the Astros' former "tequila sunrise" uniforms. The side patch on the hat is an orange tag with the "ASTROS" script in the NASA font, resembling a name tag on an astronaut's suit. While there are many more details in the hat, my biggest disappointment in the uniform is the lack of acknowledgement of Houston's large urban culture and influence on Hip-Hop, which is arguably one of the biggest parts of Houston's identity. Either way, it looks badass and the uniform is top 5 of all MLB City Connects.
Houston Astros 2000-2012 Reprint
In 2000, the Astros moved to Enron Field (later The Park at Union Station, now Minute Maid Park) and with that move came a new era of Astros baseball, and a new uniform to go with it. This new uniform is based on their last uniform which featured a navy and gold design with an uneven "shooting star" logo. Their subsequent uniform was black and red and the "shooting star" logo was evened out. In my opinion, this is the best regular uniform logo in Astros history and it also reminds me of watching Astros games as a small kid and walking down a very specific entrance into MMP to see the grandstand of the concourse. That is why this is my favourite hat to wear out. It's tied for the best fitting cap in my collection with the Texans 2023 Sideline cap. (Note that the image used is of a separate reprint made with a green under-visor which is not accurate to the original hat or the official reprint)
Sugar Land Space Cowboys Alternate
Last season, the Astros' Triple-A Affiliate in Sugar Land was renamed from the Sugar Land Skeeters to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. With this came a massive overhaul of branding including a cool new alt logo of a rocket made with the Texas flag. The new logo was put on a hat to go with their new uniform that honestly looks like a platypus. I like it.
Sultanes de Monterrey Retro
Down in Mexico, the Liga de Mexicana de Beisbol team in Monterrey called the Sultanes have a badass collection of hats, including this hat based on their past logo. The logo is the letter "S" with a baseball in the middle which features the "Sultanes" script. There is not much more that I can say about this hat other than it was a bitch to get because they're only sold in Mexico. (Fun Fact: New Era MX has hats for a cheaper price than in the US plus they constantly have official WBC Mexico gear in stock year-round)
Mexican National Team (World Baseball Classic 2022)
Speaking of Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, they have the best uniform and logo compared to every other national team's logo and uniform, hands down. When I saw how badass Arozarena was playing in the 2022 WBC, I knew I had to get a new cap for them. Trust bro, next WBC Mexico will come out on top.
Houston Oilers Black Base
Going back to Houston, I have a relatively simple Oilers hat with a black base and coloured logo (The NFL shield is cyan and the New Era flag is white if you care). While this hat is simple, my relationship with it is not as the same day I bought it, the Tennesee Titans revealed their Oilers unis for the year. As a firm hater of the Titans, especially their stance on Houston, I have elected to never wear this hat until the Texans surpass the Titans in the playoffs and cement themselves as the true owners of the "Oilers" name. (Note that while the image shown is of the same hat, its from Macy's and they fucked up the hat when they took the pic so blame them for how shit it looks)
2022 Rockets City Edition Alt logo
This snapback is what started my collection of New Era Caps. In the middle of the Rockets season, I had gone to a game a really enjoyed it. After the game (we lost), I wanted to get a hat because of my then small collection I was starting of trucker and dad caps. At the time, I thought that I looked like an asshole wearing flat-brimmed caps but I saw this hat that I thought looked really cool. After some internal debate, I decided to get it and it started my now ever-growing collection. Its design is based on the Rockets' uniforms from the '90s and the logo used is the Rockets' '80s logo recoloured to match the '90s theme. For a while, I stopped wearing this hat and snapbacks all together, however recently with the Rockets season starting back up (with an impressive start at that) and my new love for snapbacks, I've been wearing it more and more.
2022 Astros 713 Day: Killer B's
This is the jewel of my fitted collection. On 713 Day in 2022, the Astros released a collection of fitted and snapback hats with colourways inspired by the Astrodome, the Killer B's, the Rockets' move to Houston, and the Oilers. Each hat had many unique details for each aspect they represented but I could only unfortunately get one hat, I chose the one that spoke to me the most. Each hat had a variation of the following details, the concept Astros logo on the front, a "Houston" script side patch in an era-specific font, a raised batter man in the design's complementing colour, a New Era flag in a different complementing colour, and a pin in the front right panel with an Astros logo which is from the hat's era (excluding the Astrodome hat which includes a pin of the "Astrodome Original" sidepatch). (Note that the hat was not sold online so the image is an image from the Astros site of the hat in my collection)
LidsHD 2023 "Retro Star Wordmark" Astros
In 2023, LidsHD opened their Houston location and it was around then that I started getting into custom-fitted New Era hats. I was not the only one though and it's around then that more people in Houston start getting into these hats. Around the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, LidsHD drops a collection based on an older San Diego Padres script and uses the design with various MLB teams, the Astros included. The design featured a team-coloured crown, the team's name in a rising script on the front with a navy colour and team-coloured outline, 2 off-white front panels, a navy visor, and a San Diego Padres 2016 ASG side patch which had a team colour accent(With the Astros, this team's colour was orange). The Astros hat sold out quickly. Later on in December, I visited the LidsHD store in Houston for the first time and they had that hat in stock, so I picked it up. It's nice. (Note that due to the hats being limited, there is no longer an image of the Houston hat by itself, here is the best image of one of the other hats from the collection)
2023 Houston Texans Sideline Collection
When the Texans drafted CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr back to back in the 2023 NFL Draft, I knew it was going to be a good season. When the NFL revealed the Sideline Collection for each team with a split carrousel design on the crown with the team colours (navy and red for the Texans), I knew I had to pick one up and in December I did, It's tied for the best fitting cap in my collection with the Astros 2000s reprint.
2023 Houston Rockets Hometown Heroes (City Edition) Script
Almost a year later than when I started collecting hats, I wanted to round off my year with not only a badass hat but a call back to when I started. Plus, the Rockets City Designs for 2023 are one of the best for the season compared to the other ones. The new logo being called the Dunkstronaut is also a plus.
2022 Rockets City Edition Script
Continuing with the 2022 Rockets, I also had the script hat from the collection. This hat has a much different story behind it as it was actually gifted to me by my ex-boyfriend. The back of the hat on the sides of the snapback has an embroidery of my name and 713. For a while after breaking up with my boyfriend, I stopped wearing the hat and eventually, all Rockets gear and snapbacks I had. I didn't want to think about him at all. However, as I've gotten more accepting of what happened, I started to let myself like snapbacks again. I also have a jersey from the same collection which makes this a great combo to wear on gameday.
2022 Rockets Tip-Off
Another hat I picked up going to Rockets games in the 2022 season was the 2022 Tip-Off hat. This hat was a black and red hat with the Houston skyline on the front. It also had a Houston Rockets Basketball shield side patch and a tonal New Era flag on the side but that's not too interesting. This is one of my favourite hats from the NBA for the Rockets but for the 2023 season, they made an infinitely worse design for the tip-off collection that I won't go into detail about.
Houston Rockets 713
This is the jewel of my snapback collection. This hat was released by the Rockets quite a bit ago and at first glance, its a simple hat with 713 on the front and the Rockets logo on the side. However, part of the 713 collection is a design of the Houston roadmap in black and red which is printed on the bottom of the visor. This detail made me fall in love with this hat as it represents the city proudly and the map small detail would only be enjoyed by people who bought it. People from Houston. I love it.
Houston Oilers EST Sidepatch
Another hat in my collection part of the strike against the Titans is this simple snapback. It's just an Oilers blue hat with a cool side patch. Its design is literally called "Oilers Sidepatch" according to Lids and New Era. I like it. Fuck the Titans. (Note that the image shown is the fitted version of the hat because I couldn't give a shit trying to find the snapback version because of the stupid ass Titans)
Eight One Houston Astros 2022 City Connect "Gold Dust"
A custom gold variant of the Astros 2022 City Connect cap that was exclusively avaliable at Eight One locations in a limited quantity. I purchased this hat first half of 2024 when Eight One opened their second ever location in the Heights MKT. They're a very solid store with Houston roots and worth checking out for sure.
Paper Planes "Crimson Crown"
Ngl I copped this one from the pulga for a steal. It is an official New Era Paper Planes cap but I just got it cause I thought it looked cool. The cap is all red with the Paper Planes logo on the front and a green UV.
Houston Astros Cooperstown Dotted Floral Cap
Not an exclusive but a custom design from New Era. Features the 2000s Astros shooting star logo with a light pastel blue to light pastel pink gradient fill and forest green outline as well as a blooming cherry blossom design behind the logo. The back featrues a black and white flat batterman with the same Astros logo on the front in all black small above the batterman. I picked this up on my first visit in-person to The Better Generation. Another great store in Houston worth checking out.
Houston Astros 2024 All-Star Game Workout Cap
The 2024 MLB All-Star Game in Arlington had an amazing opportunity to have some of the best looking uniforms for any All-Star Game in recent memory but unfortunately MLB completely pulled an Aaron Judge and dropped the ball hard on the uniforms releasing some College Ball looking garbage thanks to it's attrocious colorway. Luckily the cap design was actually pretty good and the Workout caps feature that great design in the team's colorway. The cap has a navy crown and visor with off-white colored front panels, the Astros logo over two team colored ribbons which connect from the very left-hand end of the front panels to a sand colored star on the right-hand side of the front panels design. It also features a team colored batterman on the back with a team colored 2024 All-Star Game logo as the sidepatch.
Houston Astros "Caddyman" Ransom Script Custom
This cap I got from a giveaway from the great Caddyman Jerky on IG. He's a great guy who's very active in the cap community and has great beef jerky.
The cap features a purple crown with a black visor and button, an Astros Ransom Note Script colored in purple, black, and rust metalic, a World Series 2017 sidepatch in that same purple/black/rust color way, and a flat batterman on the back in purple and metallic rust.
